The Bear Legacy Adventure Trail will be back!!!

The estate of Emily Bayless Graham gifted 41 acres of land, along South Tollgate Road, Wheel Rd, and Route 24 for the specific purpose of building an arts center for the community. Only 15 acres of the 41 will be developed for the arts campus, leaving 26 acres remaining for The Bear Legacy Adventure Trail. The trail will remain complementing the arts campus once developed. However, the trails will be temporarily closed, for the public’s safety, to begin preparing for the development of the small portion of the property earmarked for the first Phase of the Maryland Center for the Arts campus. Large equipment will be on the site so it will not be safe for hiking during this time. We hope this phase will move quickly and we apologize for the inconvenience.
We will protect the remaining 26 undeveloped acres so that the community can continue to enjoy the beautiful property in the future.
We are so happy that the estate of Emily Bayless Graham left this gift to Harford County and the arts. If they had not, the land would likely be developed much differently. We’re proud that we are developing only a small portion of the property for an arts campus while preserving the Bear Legacy Trail for Harford County residents for decades to come.
Watch this video to learn more about the Bear Legacy Adventure Trails in this video and the Maryland Center for the Arts' Project.  As part of the new campus, the Trails may be reconfigured, but they will be a unique feature of the site.
