Havre de Grace City Yacht Basin - Acrylic
I started this painting 2 weeks ago and couldn’t wait to come back and finish it! Bonus-I painted this while under the shade of a delightful dining pavilion attached to the Promenade Grille (Incredible ice cream!! Couldn’t resist last time-did better today. ) I am pleased to be part of the Harford County Plein Air Painting Festival this summer. Lots of interesting subjects in this colorful and historic area. Stay tuned for more… |
Sunflowers at the Heritage Victory Garden - acrylic
What a lovely little garden maintained by dedicated volunteers (led by Enese Bloom), teaching ecological urban vegetable gardening, while providing fresh produce to local food pantries! I’m just about done with this acrylic painting, 16” x 14”. Hot, hot, HOT painting in the sun! I stood in the one little corner of shade I could find. |
‘76 Jeep Cherokee - acrylic
"Early August, cruising through Havre de Grace, MD in search of my next painting site for the Harford Plein Air festival, this sight stopped me in my tracks! My favorite subjects all together in one spot: cool old car, brilliant and complimentary colors (love that teal color, again), nice geometry in the structure, beautiful weather, and - bonus- really friendly property owner!! Colleen is a genuine hippie in the best sense, maintaining her life and property colorfully and creatively, with refreshing openness and good cheer. She’s a paddle board and yoga instructor, in addition to many other things. I also managed to do another painting at this great location, which I will post soon." |
Harford County's premier Plein Air Painting Festival is comprised of a juried competition and a community-based quick draw competition, which annually draw professional artists from across the U.S. to capture the county's charms. The Festival's unique format allows painters to work at their own pace from July 1 to September 15, competing for thousands of dollars in cash prizes and sales commissions.
