Site Selection

The Center for the Arts has a future site! The location of the Center for the Arts was determined after careful analysis by the site selection committee.  Several factors were taken into consideration such as availability, affordability, access and location.  The Center will be located in Harford County and accessible to all residents.

The Center will be located on a 41 acre parcel of land at the corner of Rt. 24 and Wheel Road which is part of a 110 acre bequest from the Estate of Emily Bayless Graham.  The donor, in conveying the land to Harford County Government, stipulated that the 41 acre parcel is to be used for construction of a cultural center by late 2018 or the land may revert back to the estate.  The 69 acre parcel, lying between Routes 24 and 924, must be used as a park for passive recreation according to the terms of Mrs. Graham's will.  The Center for the Arts is working with the New York architectural firm H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture, a firm that specializes in the design of cultural centers, on the Master Plan for the site.
The Center for the Arts will serve the entire region offering the performing arts, education, and partnerships with more than 40 arts organizations and the business community.
