KATHLEEN KOTARBA

Kathleen Kotarba, Baltimore, painted Darlington's Grace Memorial Church for last year's festival and returned to have another look at this historic town in northern Harford County, painting its Victorian rectory, which she calls an "architectural challenge," Kathleen notes, "The light at the end of the day creates a warm glow and a shady place to paint."
At this Darlington gazebo, Kathleen found, "The hostas are in full bloom! The purple blossoms are a perfect foil for the white gazebo and the infinite shades of green. One could almost forget the July heat!"
Kathleen says about Rutledge Brick House Farm in historic Jarrettsville:  "This brick farm house on a rolling hill is so rich in history!  It shows generations of care on the part of its owners. Also, it is a celebration of reds and greens, architecture and nature!"
Kathleen says of 200-year old Amos Mill on the Island Branch of Deer Creek in Pylesville, "I am so grateful that this treasure is restored for future generations."

Mike Kotarba painted Darlington's Grace Memorial Church for last year's festival and returned to have another look at this historic town in northern Harford County.  This year, Mike moved down the road to the octagonal chapel at Darlington Cemetery, c. 1885.  He followed it up with a rendering of a stone wall at Steppingstone Museum.

David Finnell, Charlottesville, VA, shared his paintings of two mid-19th century historical buildings, Trevilian Station, site of the eponymous Civil War battle in Louisa County, VA, and Bel Air's Tudor Hall, home to the Booth family.  He also painted at Liriodendron, the late 19th century  home of Dr. Howard Kelly, one of the founding physicians of Johns Hopkins Medical College. Liriodendron will host an exhibition of our Plein Air artists from late September into October.
On a hot morning, August 10, in Charlottesville, David painted in the coolness of the woods near his home.
Painted in Forest Hill.
